Employer workplace rehabilitation
Practical support for recovery at work
As a SIRA-accredited NSW Workplace Rehabilitation Provider (#752), HEALTH ABILITY helps employers and injured workers plan practical recovery at work. Our Sydney-based consultants work with the worker, employer, treating team and insurer under the agreed referral.

How our consultants can help
Support may include understanding job demands, reviewing suitable duties, discussing adjustments, coordinating with relevant parties and monitoring an agreed plan. The scope depends on the worker’s needs, treating advice and insurer engagement.
A shared plan with clear roles
We work to make tasks, capacity information and next steps understandable to everyone involved. Employers provide work information and suitable duties where available; treating practitioners provide clinical advice; the insurer arranges and funds agreed rehabilitation services under the relevant scheme.
Evidence of outcomes
HEALTH ABILITY records return-to-work (RTW) outcomes and asks for service feedback. We will publish specific annual figures or quotations only after the underlying audit periods, measures and permissions are verified.
For your employee
If an employee wants to understand rehabilitation support or ask about HEALTH ABILITY as a provider, our injured worker information explains the process in plain language.
Our recovery-at-work process
- Engage and listen. The insurer confirms the referral, then we discuss the worker's goals, current concerns and the work context.
- Assess options. We review capacity information, job demands, available duties and barriers with the relevant people.
- Plan together. We help develop an agreed plan with realistic duties, responsibilities, reviews and communication.
- Monitor and adjust. We follow progress and raise changes when duties, capacity or circumstances shift.
Questions employers ask
Who appoints and pays the provider?
In a NSW workers compensation matter, the insurer engages and pays the approved provider for agreed services. The worker should be consulted about the provider.
Does HA issue a medical clearance?
No. Treating practitioners provide medical advice and certificates. Our consultants help translate that advice and workplace information into practical recovery planning.
When should an employer discuss a rehabilitation referral?
Raise the question when recovery at work is not progressing, duties are unclear or several parties need coordinated planning. In a NSW workers compensation matter, discuss referral and funding with the insurer.
Can a worker ask for HEALTH ABILITY?
Yes. A worker can tell the insurer they would prefer HEALTH ABILITY and can ask about availability. The insurer considers and arranges an approved referral; a request alone does not confirm an appointment or funding. Read the worker guide.
