Choose the right workplace health service
Start with the decision you need to make. This guide shows when each HEALTH ABILITY service may help and what to discuss before booking.
Hiring and understanding a role
Can a candidate meet the physical demands of a role?
A pre-employment functional assessment compares the candidate's functional abilities with agreed role demands. It informs a hiring decision; the employer makes that decision.
Are the demands of a role unclear?
A job demand analysis documents the tasks, postures, forces and work setting. It can inform recruitment, assessments and suitable-duty planning.
Preventing discomfort and injury
Is a workstation or task causing discomfort?
An ergonomic assessment reviews the work setup and practical adjustments.
Are physically demanding tasks a concern?
Hazardous manual-task review and training examines the real tasks and supports practical controls. Training alone does not replace changes to equipment or work design.
Would a team movement routine help?
A warm-up and mobility program can be tailored to work demands and participants. It is one part of a wider risk-management approach.
Recovery and return to work
Do you need a clearer picture of current function?
A functional capacity assessment examines ability against agreed activities or work demands. It does not replace a treating practitioner's certificate of capacity.
Does a worker need coordinated support?
Workplace rehabilitation brings the worker, employer, treating team and insurer together around practical duties and a recovery plan. In a NSW workers compensation claim, the insurer engages and funds the approved provider.
Do you need to identify suitable work options?
A suitable duties register maps adjustable tasks that can support individual recovery planning.
Does the worker need to rebuild task-related capacity?
Work conditioning sets progressive goals linked to work demands, with clinical review and any required insurer approval.
Is physiotherapy access the need?
Telehealth or onsite physiotherapy may suit some people and locations, subject to clinical suitability and current availability.
